NTT DATA proudly participated in and sponsored the "36th Annual FIRST Conference (FIRSTCON24)" held from June 9 to June 14, 2024. As a leading provider of advanced cybersecurity services and solutions, we were honored to be a part of this globally recognized event, organized by the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams, Inc. (FIRST). This report provides an overview of our involvement and the outcomes achieved in FIRSTCON24.

Overview of the Conference

The "36th Annual FIRST Conference" is considered one of the most esteemed events in the field of cybersecurity. Established in 1990, FIRST is an international nonprofit association of Computer Security and Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs), Product Security and Incident Response Teams (PSIRTs), and independent security researchers from public, private, and academic sectors. With over 700 teams from more than 100 nations FIRST Official Site, 2024, the annual conference offers a forum for sharing goals, ideas, and information to improve global cybersecurity.

NTT DATA has a long-standing relationship with the FIRST community. To enhance incident response capabilities and establish communication paths with other CSIRT organizations globally, NTT DATA joined FIRST on April 19, 2011. In the past, we have significantly contributed to the organization by serving as Organizers, Program Committee members, and Speakers at various FIRST events. Our continuous involvement underscores our commitment to advancing the field of cybersecurity in collaboration with industry peers.

This year's conference was held at the Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk in Fukuoka, Japan. As a leader in the Japanese and Global security industry and a Bronze Sponsor of the conference, NTT DATA is committed to endorsing the mission and principles of FIRST and providing a deep dive into the technological advancements and innovative approaches we are employing to address the evolving cybersecurity landscape.

Booth Exhibition Highlights

Our booth exhibition served as a platform for interactive engagement, knowledge exchange, networking, and detailed presentations about our solutions and services. NTT DATA's cybersecurity professionals for both governance and business teams attended to showcase our NTTDATA-CERT capability and NTT DATA's global cybersecurity services.

Introduction of NTTDATA-CERT

NTT DATA Corporation operates "NTTDATA-CERT," a specialized cybersecurity incident response team (CSIRT) to ensure that our systems and services are provided to our customers safely and securely. NTTDATA-CERT, as the professional security incident response team for NTT DATA, including its group companies with 190,000 employees, is dedicated to preventing and responding to security incidents. In addition to emergency response, we consistently implement preventive measures and conduct technical investigations to prevent recurrence. We also engage in research and development of information security-related technologies, distribute tips on vulnerability management measures both internally and externally, and work to strengthen collaboration with external organizations. For further information about the activity, please refer to the Overview of NTTDATA-CERT's activities (PDF: 432KB).

Global Cyber Security Service

Based on the know-how gained from our long experience in incident response through NTTDATA-CERT and the implementation of one of the world's largest Zero-Trust environments for all group employees, NTT DATA can provide many client companies with services that cover the entire spectrum from consulting to security management. Result and Impact

People from all over the world including Asia, Europe, Africa, North America and Oceania visited our booth and had in-depth conversations with our experts, who provided detailed information and answered questions about our activities and services. First, visitors were surprised by the scale of our company and the breadth of our CSIRT's monitoring and response capabilities. Although managing security on a global scale presents various challenges and is not easy to operate, under the leadership of NTTDATA-CERT at headquarters, the security teams of each group company work closely together, and we are committed to security on a daily basis. The discussions at the booth allowed us to provide a comprehensive understanding of how we are addressing the challenges to meet specific security needs within the company.

In addition to the company's scale, visitors were also attracted by its regional and technological coverage. NTT DATA has over 80 service delivery locations worldwide, enabling 24/365 service provision through coordinated efforts across these locations. Local teams, well-versed in regional business practices and regulations, act as counterparts to provide globally unified services. Moreover, in recent years, NTT DATA has expanded its coverage beyond the IT sector to also include the OT (Operational Technology) sector, where it has accumulated extensive experience. Questions about how our services can be tailored to specific industry needs highlighted the demand for flexible solutions.

Conclusion

Our participation and sponsorship at the 36th Annual FIRST Conference allowed NTT DATA to effectively highlight our latest security solutions and engage with the broader cybersecurity community. We remain committed to our slogan, "leading innovation through cybersecurity" and contributing to creating a more secure society. Our ongoing involvement with FIRST demonstrates our dedication to fostering global cooperation and advancing cybersecurity.
