Swathi Sujir
Business Operations Supervisor
Swathi Sujir is originally from Chennai, South India. She currently is newly married and lives in Chennai. Swathi studied a B. Sc., in visual communication before completing a master's in advertising and public relations. After graduating, Swathi worked for a production house where she developed a passion for graphic design. Later she worked in advertising for a few years before becoming a freelancer in the visual arts field for business presentations consulting. Swathi was hired by NTT DATA in 2021 and currently works as a business operations supervisor. In her free time, she loves to doodle and whenever she can she travels overseas to immerse herself in local cultures.
Finding inspiration through interesting work
Tell us about an interesting project
I wouldn't say that there is one specific project that stands out to me, because all my projects are pretty interesting to be honest. Instead, though I'd like to talk about me as a project. What I mean by that is that when I first started working at NTT DATA, I was firmly entrenched in the visual design field. And, as time has gone on, I have learned through the projects I have done, some new technical skills that I never expected to master. For example, I have learned how to consolidate data and have vastly improved my business communications skills.
Thinking of my development as a project has really helped me to learn more about NTT DATA's core business and clients and to ultimately transition from doing visual design to project management. My ambition is to continue on this journey and become a leader so that I can inspire people in the same way I've been inspired working at NTT DATA.
Describe a regular working day
As I mentioned, I started out at NTT DATA in user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design creating PowerPoint front-end dashboard designs. However, these days I work more as a project manager with a team of six people. My role is to provide guidance and subject matter expertise so that my team can deliver the best possible UI and UX solutions for our clients.
Before I started working here, I was 100% freelance and remote, so for me working from home has always been normal. However, I also enjoy visiting the office to meet face to face with people from my team. It's good to have that social contact from time to time just to get to know each other better. But, a usual day for me involves managing my team's operations from home.
Why do you like to work at NTT DATA?
For me the biggest reason to love NTT DATA is being given the opportunity to learn a lot in a safe and inclusive space. The company encourages an open forum to share personal ideas in a collaborative style where people never feel afraid to express themselves no matter what their pay grade is. Also, because we work in a somewhat flat hierarchy system the working culture is great. I feel like I'm fully supported in my daily work and through training programs like the Elevate program.
Finally, I'd advise people to come and join us at NTT DATA if they have a passion to learn and grow. Even if you're not a technical person you can still learn the technology and business side and grow as a person. I have so you can too.
