NTT DATA and PMI Joint Webinar: Achieving True Project Value with GenAI
What Defines Project Success Today?
As part of our Global PMO initiatives, NTT DATA hosts "Global PM Community of Practice (CoP) Sessions" for NTT DATA employees passionate about Project Management. These sessions are designed to sharpen Project Management skills, encourage knowledge exchange, and promote global networking among colleagues. On October 15th, we proudly wrapped up a joint webinar with the Project Management Institute (PMI), attracting over 200 attendees from across the globe.
This joint webinar between NTT DATA and PMI was designed to foster collaboration among project management professionals worldwide. With PMI, a leader in project management standards, we aim to redefine project success by integrating GenAI tools, emphasizing value beyond the traditional metrics of time, cost, and scope. This collaboration highlights our shared goals of enhancing project outcomes through advanced technology, aligning with broader themes of value creation, social impact, and secure data handling in project management.
1. Agenda
In this session, we had the honor of hosting three distinguished presenters from NTT DATA and PMI. Carmine Paragano, Senior Director at NTT DATA Italy, delivered an insightful presentation on the "Project Management Revolution with Gen AI in Italy." SoHyun Kang, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at PMI, shared her expertise on the "Impact and Factors of Project Success." Claudia Alcelay, Product Manager for AI at PMI, introduced us to "The PMI x AI Initiative" and provided an engaging PMI Infinity demo.
Special recognition goes to Roberto Laurita from NTT DATA Italy, who excelled as the facilitator, enhancing communication between the presenters and attendees from NTT DATA.
2. AI/GenAI Tools for Project Management
We first explored the diverse landscape of AI and GenAI tools. It was fascinating to observe how Copilot, integrated with Microsoft, has become a key part of our operations in NTT DATA. A significant takeaway was the integration of GenAI modules by major project management software vendors such as Jira and ServiceNow. This trend underscores the increasing importance of AI in enhancing project management capabilities. It is evident that selecting the appropriate tool for each task is crucial. Integrating these AI tools into our daily activities will undoubtedly streamline our processes and enhance efficiency.
3. New definition of Project Success
Redefining project success from mere "adherence to timelines and budget" to "value delivered that was worth the effort and cost" is key. Using Generative AI to monitor real-time project value indicators (e.g. customer satisfaction, sustainability, employee experience) enables adjustments and optimization throughout the project.
4. Three Key Factors to Increase Your Success Rate
To increase success rates, building a performance measurement system to define and track value indicators is essential. Generative AI can quantify project performance, creating feedback loops that align with project objectives. For instance, real-time dashboards updated by AI allow early detection of issues and visualization of outcomes.
5. Social and Environmental Impact of Your Projects
As PMI research indicates, projects with social benefits are more likely to be perceived as successful. GenAI can be used to analyze and assess the social and environmental impact of projects, helping communicate their value to stakeholders and enhancing project credibility.
6. Project Management with GenAI
Leveraging AI functions to quickly generate project management documents such as risk registers and communication plans greatly enhances management efficiency. GenAI enables real-time analysis of project status, providing immediate feedback to decision-makers for rapid response.
7. Voices from the Webinar
The NTT DATA and PMI joint webinar successfully brought together over 200 project management professionals globally, highlighting the transformative potential of GenAI. By integrating GenAI tools, we can redefine project success beyond traditional metrics, focusing on delivering true value.
Key discussions emphasized the importance of selecting the right tools and integrating them into daily operations to enhance efficiency. Insights from our presenters, including Carmine Paragano, SoHyun Kang, and Claudia Alcelay, showcased the impact of AI in project management, driving better outcomes and ensuring secure data handling.
As we embrace advanced technologies, GenAI will play a crucial role in shaping the future of project management. We look forward to continuing this journey of innovation and collaboration.
